English 9 (Periods 2 and 3)

Welcome to the first year of high school! This year we will be using a textbook as our main source. The text will be suplimented by novels as well as study guides for those novels.
We will be keeping track of your writing samples by maintaining a writing portfolio. You will also be maintaining a writing journal. I will hang on to your journals and portfolios in class.
The Independent Reading assignment runs throughout the entire school year. I urge you to begin this assignment right away as waiting until the end of the semester to get all of the work in could be very stressful and may result in no credit should you not give yourself enough time. I will attach an explanation of that assignment to this site.
