The objective of this course is to rigorously engage the
student in the study of the traditional topics of geometry, with emphasis on
deductive reasoning (PROOF!) Special attention will be given to topics
identified by the NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) as
necessary “strands” in the development of mathematical knowledge for the
contemporary high school student. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing
geometry and its use in other disciplines of learning as well as in real-world
applications.
It is my sincere hope that this class will not only
challenge students academically, but will also challenge them to examine and
practice the values/virtues that are the heart of a Lasallian School, as we
daily reflect on Lasallian themes |
