Welcome to the MEN'S ASSOCIATION OF COMPETITIVE READERS. This reading group has a real twist. We read books about boys/men and then have a competition about the book. Teams of 4-6 players are organized and then face off asking questions they created during the weekly team meetings. See competition rules for further explanation. Most of the works we read are non-fiction. The season is slated to begin in early September and our goal is to hold a competition every 4-6 weeks. Our first book will be Castaway Kid, by R.B. Mitchell.
MACRS INAUGURAL SEASON 2008
Last year we ran a pilot program in the second semester of the school year and experienced great success. TEAM CASEY was the champion and Ryan Russell '09 was league MVP. Charlie Berg '11 was voted Rookie of the Year.
LEAGUE UPDATE OCTOBER 14, 2008
Readers have read up to page 100 and the first two rounds have been completed. In the fourth hour league Team Larson is ahead by 8 goals and in the fifth hour league Russell Power had a very impressive round and have soared to a 12 point lead.
Players should read from page 100-150 for the 3rd Round that will occur on Friday, October 24th. Use the time off during MEA weekend to catch up.
There will be a Captain's meeting in Mr. Benson's classroom (A-106) on Weds. morning, October 22nd at 8am.
